Expansion tanks for drinking water installations

Home systems lose tens of thousands of liters of drinking water as expansion water drips through the valve and expansion piping. Flamco Airfix A and D membrane expansion tanks for drinking water systems prevent wastage. Airfix tanks still allow continuous flow, creating a constant circulation. This prevents the formation of bacterial colonies.

During commissioning, the pre-pressure must be set 0,2 bar lower than the cold water line pressure. During commissioning, the water supply moves into the tank already in a cold state. The water reserve ensures low-wear operation. The heating must also accommodate the expansion volume.

The pre-pressure in the expansion tank must be checked at least once every six months. To do this, the tank must be hydraulically separated from the heating system. Drain the expansion tank and then check the pre-pressure on the air side of the tank with a manometer. The heating system must be equipped with a safety valve with an opening pressure you are not allowed to overcome the permissible operating pressure of the expansion tank and hot water boiler.
